Mozambique's First Lady, Maria Da Luz Dai Guebuza, acted as Lady Sponsor for the new Höegh Maputo in a naming ceremony at the Maputo Car Terminal on Oct. 21.

Höegh Autoliners Chairman Leif O. Høegh hosted the ceremony, together with Thor Jørgen Guttormsen (Director in Höegh Autoliners and President in Norwegian Shipowners Association), and others. Mrs. Guebuza was accompanied by her husband, President Armando Emilio Guebuza, as well as Mozambican governmental officials,  the Norwegian Ambassador to Mozambique, representatives from the Chinese Embassy, representatives of Norwegian businesses in the country, and many of Höegh Autoliners' customers in the region.

The 4,300-CEU Höegh Maputo was delivered from Xiamen Shipbuilding Industries Co. Ltd. in China in July 2011. A naming ceremony for the new Höegh Singapore, also built by Xiamen, was held in China on Oct. 12.

Höegh Autoliners has invested in the joint venture operating the Maputo terminal, and other Höegh interests are involved in investments in Mozambique.
