APL Logistics and Con-way Freight are rapidly expanding their OceanGuaranteed service for less-than-containerload cargo from Asia.
The companies in a joint statement said they have now launched the “day-definite” service from Jakarta, Indonesia, to North America.
“The addition of Jakarta brings the number of origin ports for the partners’ guaranteed services to 14. The service was recently expanded to the south China port of Xiamen, and Fuzhou which is linked to the OceanGuaranteed network by truck,” the companies said.
APL Logistics and Con-way Freight launched the premium combination ocean-trucking service in 2006 to provide highly reliable shipping options with lower costs, compared with air freight services.
"We're gratified by the growth of guaranteed service throughout Asia," said Jim McAdam, president of APL Logistics. "And we're pleased that the partnership underlying the service remains strong.”
The companies said the OceanGuaranteed has had an on-time performance record of 99 percent since its inception.
OceanGuaranteed cargo moves from Asia on ships operated by APL, the liner arm of Singapore-based Neptune Orient Lines, while Con-way Freight transports shipments to final destinations using its dedicated truck fleet and network of 300 service centers across North America.
"OceanGuaranteed has established itself as a truly differentiated product which provides shippers with speed, reliability and value,” said Greg Lehmkuhl, president of Con-way Freight. “Today’s expansion underscores the market’s recognition of that value and the superior service performance this partnership is delivering.”
