Shipping Rate, Surcharge Update for Week of Sept. 10-14

Hapag-Lloyd will impose a general rate increase on all cargoes from East Asia to Mexico, Central America and South America West Coast. The proposed increase, starting Oct. 6, will be $500 per 20-foot equivalent unit. The German carrier will also apply a $300 per TEU hike on services from East Asia (excluding Japan) to the Red Sea, effective Sept. 17. The planned rate increase on trade from Japan to the Red Sea will be $400 per TEU, starting Oct. 1. 

UASC will be implementing a General Rate Increase for all cargo from North Europe to Indian Subcontinent at $100 per TEU and $150 per FEU, effective Oct. 1.

Hamburg Süd announced that, effective Oct. 15, a GRI will be applied to all cargo moving from the U.S. and Canadian West Coast Ports to the Mediterranean. Tariff rates and service contract rates will be increased by $320 per TEU and $400 per FEU.
