South Korean ocean container carrier Hanjin Shipping is hiking rates for Asia-Europe trade routes, effective Jan. 13, 2013, to cover losses from falling freight rates, the company said.
Rates will increase by $350 per 20-foot-equivalent unit and $700 per 40-foot-equivalent unit.
The increases apply to routes from the Far East and Southeast Asia regions, as well as India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Ceylon, to North Europe and the Baltic and Scandinavian regions. They also apply to routes from the Far East, Southeast Asia and Middle East regions, as well as India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Ceylon, to the Mediterranean and North Africa regions.
