Shipping Corporation of India will implement a general rate increase on westbound cargo from India to Europe and the Mediterranean, starting Feb. 1.
The planned increase will be $300 per 20-foot-equivalent unit, applying to all cargo from India to destinations in North Europe, the United Kingdom, the Mediterranean and Black Sea region.
The state-owned ocean carrier said the rate restoration is necessary to “meet increased operational costs.”
The move follows a similar rate hike announcement by Mediterranean Shipping Co. on India-Europe trade lanes, effective Feb. 4.
