The Port of Portland, Ore., reported tonnage through the port in 2012 totaled 12.4 million tons, falling 7.7 percent from 13.4 million tons in 2011.

The port’s total container throughput in 2012 was 183,203 20-foot-equivalent units, down from last year’s 198,179 TEUs. Containerized imports totaled 82,095 TEUs and export volume was 101,108 TEUs in 2012, each segment down from 2011.

Vessel calls to the port slipped as well, to 544 in 2012 from 554 in 2011.

The port was negatively affected by two labor disputes involving the International Longshore and Warehouse Union in 2012.
