Barge Carrier

Barge Carriers, or Lighter Aboard Ship (LASH) carriers (IHS/Fairplay), are cargo vessels set up to carry purpose-built barges (lighters), which are loaded at an inland or shallow-draft port and then towed to seaports for transportation via the barge carrier (Wikipedia). Increasing containerization has largely displaced the demand for these vessels.
