General Cargo

General cargo ships are single or multi-deck cargo vessels that can handle a variety of dry cargoes; single-deck vessels will usually have box-shaped holds, and cargo will be loaded and unloaded via weather deck hatches (IHS/Fairplay). General cargo ships can include such types as breakbulk freighters, cattle carriers, pallet carriers, and timber carriers (Transportation Institute).
