Heavy Load Carrier

Heavy load carriers are cargo vessel specifically designed to carry heavy or oversized individual cargoes, either on deck or in holds (IHS/Fairplay). Such vessels may have Ro-Ro ramps for loading. A specialized type of this vessel is the semi-submersible, also known as a "flo/flo" ("float on/float off") ship, which is used to carry such cargoes as yachts and oil platforms.
